Engobes are colored clay slips used to decorate or coat ceramic pieces before firing.
They allow for changing the surface color, creating decorative effects, and masking the original clay, while generally maintaining a matte and natural finish.
Applied to greenware or bisque, depending on the formulation, they offer great freedom for decoration, texture, and contrast in earthenware, stoneware, or porcelain.
